ATTIRE
What is the attire for the wedding?
Cocktail.
Can I wear a pirate outfit to the wedding?
Yes. Pirate outfits are encouraged. You must, however, be in full pirate garb. No jeans with a sword just so you can wear jeans to our wedding. Full outfit. Or nothin'.
Can I wear a Texas tux on Saturday night?
Ugh. Fine. We prefer you didn’t, but the northern guests would get a kick out of it.
Can I wear jeans on Friday night?
Yes. And you probably should, it's Texas and BBQ. Don't be weird.
Can I wear sweat jeans?
NO ARI YOU CAN’T.
COUPLE
What do Margo and Brian do for a living?
See our descriptions on the About Page.
Why isn’t Margo pregnant already?
Thank you everyone for your enthusiasm towards our first not-yet-born! We know you are all eager for little Aaron-Platts. And we get it becuase they're going to be awesome. But for now, we have to focus on getting this wedding put together. So, we're not pregant yet. Sorry :(
Is Brian running for public office?
Depends, are you donating?
WEDDING
Why don’t you have a bridal party?
We are doing a lot of things a little “different” for our wedding.
We did some digging into Jewish tradition and turns out a lot of the things we do these days are decidedly American, not necessarily Jewish.
In fact, Jewish tradition only mandates a few things like the Sheva B’rachot (7 blessings), Ketuba signing with non-related witnesses, a glass of wine, and an unadorned band for the couple's fingers.....A few newer traditions got added over the centuries, like the breaking of the glass and the chupah...but they have nothing to do with Jewish law. (and yes, we’re still gonna do ‘em)
We fell in love with the simplicity of the Jewish ceremonial requirements and wanted to keep them. So, simple chupah, no bridal party, and no formal processional.
Don’t worry, it’s all super kosher! (we researched. and got it all approved.)
Wait - no seated ceremony?
That’s right. No fomal seating, that is. Everyone will gather around the chuppa informally around sunset. We’ll stand around the bride and groom, or sit at your table, and cheer and listen and then be done.
Wait - so...will we see Margo before the ceremony?
Yes, you’ll see Margo before the wedding ceremony. We’re doing a backwards wedding. We promise it will be fun.
TEXAS
Does everyone in Texas ride around on horses? Will we see horses?!
No and no. It’s a major metropolitan city. People drive cars and you will see lots of highways. If you are fond of horses, we recommend spending some time on a Dude Ranch in the Hill Country.
Where can I get good BBQ?
See our Things to do in Houston Page.
(Don't feel like clicking all the way there? Goode Company is Margo's Fave. Google it.)
